My experience with StoryCatcher Photography
If you've been following me along through my journey on social media these past few years you may have noticed that I rarely post photos of myself. It's not something that I do readily.
But a few months ago I met Kristen from StoryCatcher Photography at one of my speaking events. She mentioned she had been following me on Instagram and it took her quite some time to find a photo of me on my feed. We got to talking about how important it is for followers, clients and readers to know the person behind the business. And so....I hired her!!
Right from the minute we booked the photo shoot, Kristen sent me a questionnaire to fill out to identify my brand. It was great to revisit the reason why I started this business. Kristen’s workbook not only helped me to re-identify my brand, but it also helped her to identify what kind of photos I wanted to represent my business and the person that I am behind it all.
Along with the brand booklet, she asked me to create a vision board with photos that inspired me and represented my business. This was a great tool during the photo shoot, where Kristen could get ideas and inspiration for photos.
Kristen also provided a list of wonderful hair, makeup and style experts who could help make my photo session perfect. A huge thank you to: Sarah Thiessen at Tuscany Hair, Jenny McKinley Makeup Artistry and Adorah Raylene, Personal Stylist for all their help in making me feel my very best.
Kristen was so caring and thoughtful throughout the entire photo shoot. She took the time to discuss with me things that I like and don’t like about myself so she could capture photos that I would absolutely love. I will be honest….I don't enjoy being photographed, but Kristen's warm personality made the process feel relaxed and fun. Most of all, I just felt like I could be myself.
For some a photo shoot might just be another idea to promote their business, but for me this experience was life changing. I felt beautiful and confident and more prepared to accept myself for what I am right now and not what I will or might be once I lose weight, or grow out my hair, or have the perfect outfit or shoes, or whatever it might be. This experience was about accepting me for who I am today and being able to see what others see when they look at me.
